Logical thinking skills? What’s that?

Every parent wants to know whether their child is going to be the next Steve Jobs or the Bill Gates of the world. Providing them with intensive studying and reading material just so they can fantasize about what they might be interested in the future thinking they are the only parents doing this around the world. The second your child touches a book related to aquatic creatures this pops in your head “perhaps he would become a marine biologist?”. Now will doing all this help? Short answer no.

See as children grow up so does their behavior, their environment, and their interests. Every child dream of being an Astronaut  a decade before he/she can even legally drive a car let alone flying a spaceship and, in the end, decides working a less prominent job. Now you’re wondering should I lose hope all together? A resounding no, not at all.

Now what has this got to do with logical thinking. Well parents all over the world have exhausted every option into morphing their child’s future career prospects yet glimpsing over the most important thing for your child at his age, logical thinking skills. See logical thinking is a skill that involves using reasoning in a way that allows an individual to come to a viable solution. This skill allows someone to accurately analyze a situation, make any connections between data, and use the information gathered to solve the problem. Logical thinking requires several reasoning skills and the ability to look at a situation objectively and work towards a solution based on the facts at hand.

If you spend time helping your kids master this very root cause of how he/she would end up in the future, it will benefit them tremendously. If your child can make decisions and analyze situations without having to ask for help it often that the choice, they make for their future career pathway would be decided by them and them alone. This is because of how they can deduce the situation and choose the correct option suited to them.

Now whether you as parents want them to go into that specific route is a different ball game altogether but if your child is extremely good at his logical thinking skills no matter what he/she does it will be for a very specific reason and as parents it is recommended you reason with them rather than shutting their ideas down.

Quite a few numbers of adults would have this sense of pride that they know more about the world than their child due to their experience but due to a paradigm shift many things are now obsolete that used to exist decades ago. Being open is the best thing you as parents can do for your child, you never know you might learn a thing or two.
